Hello, Nathan here and today I am going to discuss some of the main differences between Krill Oil vs Fish Oil.
Firstly as you can see from the picture on the left is the size!
I am comparing a standard Fish Oil tablet with Swisse Wild Krill Oil and Prograde EFA Icon Krill Oil and as you can clearly see the Fish Oil tablet is twice the size of the Krill Oil tablets.I cannot believe I used to swallow Fish Oil tablet for the past 10 years! You may also notice the colour difference the Swisse and Prograde brands. Before you buy Krill Oil I highly recommend that you read the ingredients label because they all vary a lot and just because one is cheaper than the other doesn’t mean that you have found a bargin…For example the Swisse Wild Krill Oil contains 333.33mg of Krill Oil, whereas the Prograde contains 500mg of Krill Oil. So although Swisse is cheaper, how many more tablets do you require to get the same effect as Prograde. As I have mentioned in another post I used to take 5 Fish Oil tablets per day and after a game of cricket I use to have 3 before going to bed just so I could get out of bed in the morning! Now all I take is 1 Prograde Krill Oil tablet even though they recommend taking 2.

Another major difference is the after taste. Krill Oil has no fishy smell or after taste to it compared to Fish Oil. I think my wife prefers Krill Oil just for this fact…Other health benefits of Krill Oil vs Fish Oil that you may not of heard about is a particular compound called Astaxanthin, which is not found in the Swisse Wild Krill Oil product or at least not stated on the label.Astaxanthin helps boost your immunity against skin cancer. And as you are all aware about Australia is a leader (unfortunately) when it comes to skin cancers.
Krill Oil vs Fish Oil
Krill is a natural antioxidant, helps lower cholesterol and contains high amounts of Omega-3 Fatty Acids and much more.
I have personally made the switch from Fish Oil to Krill Oil and I won’t be looking back. I have even stopped taking Glucosamine supplements!
Krill Oil vs Fish Oil
A recent real life example was on my recent holiday with my wife. We went with our camper trailer tent to Karijini National Park where for 3 days we climbed in and out of the gorges and on the 4th day climber up Mt Bruce.
You can check the tin box at the top on the 12th of May 2011 where we wrote our names in the book to prove our achievement.
Now it took 2 and a half hours to climb up and a further 2 hours to climb down and if you are anything like me I suffer from stiff joints, in particular in the knees. When walking down hill, or down stairs the jarring effect is worse than walking up hill or up a flight of stairs.
Combined with the fact that I am 6 foot and 3 inches and have suffered from lower back issues all my life nearly and I was sleeping on a foam mattress, which squashes down to an inch when laying on it. By the end of the trip the mattress looked more like a dug out canoe than a bed!
1 Prograde Krill Oil tablet everyday had me up and ready for the next adventure.
I personally cannot believe the massive difference between Krill Oil and Fish Oil.
Sure you read these sales pages that states that Krill Oil is 48% more effective than Fish Oil but from my own experiences I have to totally agree.
